1. At this time, Beckett Grading Services accepts and grades most licensed cards up to 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Additional fees will apply to items larger then 3x5. Please note that cards showing evidence of counterfeiting,
tampering, or restoration will be charged the full amount according to the service option selected. By not checking either of the “Authentic” boxes on the front of the submission form, your cards will be given a numeric grade if
the cards are deemed to be gradable by BGS standards. Usual grading fees apply. Please refer to www.beckett.com/grading for updated information.
2. All submissions must be addressed to Beckett Grading Services. Improperly addressed shipments are not subject to turnaround time selected. Cards should be sent in oversized (3.25" X 5") semi-rigid holders (such as a Card
Saver I). “Penny sleeves” should also be used in conjunction with the oversized semi-rigid holders. BGS will not be responsible for any damages incurred by the use of other holders.
3. All card submissions must be accompanied by a Beckett-issued submission form. All other forms, including handwritten copies, are null and void.
4. Please PRINT your name and account number (if you have one) in the upper right corner of the form. If you do not have an account number, one will be assigned to you.
6. Please be sure to notate your return shipping method of choice in the 'SHIP VIA' box. Standard shipping will be via FedEx Ground unless otherwise marked. Feel free to use your existing FedEx or UPS account # if you have
one. BGS reserves the right to change carriers without notice unless a shipping account is being used.
7. List all cards you are submitting with quantity, year of issue, set name or company (please use standard Beckett terminology when possible), card number, card/player name, and your declared value per lot. You may use
additional forms to list more cards, but please only choose one service level per submission form.
8. Select 'Grading Service' level. Check one level only. (See top of rules section for more details). Please separate cards based on submission levels and requirements.
9. To determine amount owed, use the 'Calculating $ to be paid to BGS' area. Total the number of cards submitted and multiply by the price per card for the grading service you select. Figure return postage and insurance using
appropriate tables. Add 8.25% Sales Tax to the cost of service and shipping if you are a Texas resident only, unless the cards are for re-sale and you provide us with a valid re-sale tax ID number.
examined or processed until payment is made in full. Don't forget the expiration date, security code, and signature. All payments must be in U.S. funds. Returned checks will be assessed a $30.00 fee.
11. Be sure to include return insurance and ship to address on top of submission form. Send to the attention of 'Beckett Grading Services. Beckett will not be responsible for damages on packages sent for grading so insurance
and tracking is recommended. Owner's declared value is used for determining insurance cost of the return shipment and the maximum amount that can be claimed for damage or loss in shipment for any card or cards. If a
claim is necessary at any point, the value of each card will be based upon the actual market value not to exceed the insured value the customer assigned to the card.

Obtain Answers on Beckett Grading

  1. What is the Beckett Grading form used for?

The Beckett Grading form is designed for collectors who want to submit their trading cards for grading and authentication. By filling out this form, you provide essential information about each card, including its condition and value. This process helps ensure that your cards are graded accurately, giving you a better understanding of their market value.

  2. How do I fill out the Beckett Grading form?

Start by entering your personal information at the top of the form. This includes your name, address, and contact details. Next, list the cards you are submitting, detailing the quantity, year, set name, card number, player name, and declared value for each card. Make sure to select the grading service level you prefer. If you have more cards than can fit on one form, feel free to use a second sheet.

  3. What are the payment options for grading services?

You can pay using a check, money order, or credit card. Just remember not to send cash. If you opt for a credit card, make sure to include your card number, expiration date, and security code. The total cost will depend on the number of cards you submit and the grading service level you choose. Be sure to add any applicable sales tax if you are a Texas resident.

  4. What happens if my cards are deemed altered?

If your cards are checked and found to be altered—meaning they have been trimmed, recolored, or otherwise tampered with—they won’t receive a numeric grade. Instead, they will be sealed and authenticated in a special Beckett case labeled as “Authentic/Altered.” This process ensures that you still receive recognition for the card's authenticity, even if it can't be graded.

  5. Can I submit oversized cards?

Yes, Beckett Grading Services accepts oversized cards, but additional fees apply. Cards larger than 3x5 inches will incur a surcharge, so be sure to factor that into your payment. It's important to note that oversized items may have different shipping costs, so check the shipping table on the form for accurate pricing.

  6. What should I do if I have questions about my submission?

If you have any questions or need assistance, you can visit the Beckett website or call their customer service. They are there to help you navigate the grading process and address any concerns you may have about your cards or the submission form.

Common mistakes

Filling out the Beckett Grading form requires attention to detail. One common mistake is failing to provide accurate contact information. If your name, address, or email is incorrect, it can lead to delays in processing or issues with shipping your cards back to you. Always double-check this information before submitting.

Another frequent error is neglecting to specify the grading service level. The form requires you to select one service level for your submission. If you check multiple boxes or leave this section blank, it can cause confusion and result in your cards not being graded as you intended.

Many people also forget to declare the value of their cards. This is crucial for determining insurance costs and ensuring proper handling during shipping. Without a declared value, your cards may not be insured adequately, exposing you to potential loss.

Inaccurate calculations are another pitfall. When determining the total amount owed, ensure you multiply the number of cards by the grading fee correctly. Mistakes in this section can lead to payment issues, causing further delays in processing your submission.

Some individuals overlook the importance of checking the appropriate boxes regarding authentication. If you want your cards graded, but you also check the box for only authentication, it can lead to your cards being sealed without a numeric grade. Be clear about your intentions to avoid this mistake.

Lastly, not including payment can halt the grading process entirely. The form explicitly states that payment must accompany your submission. If you send your cards without the necessary payment, they will not be graded, and you may face additional delays in retrieving your items.

Dos and Don'ts

When filling out the Beckett Grading form, it is essential to follow specific guidelines to ensure a smooth submission process. Below are six things to do and avoid:

  • Do print your name and account number in the upper right corner of the form.
  • Do use oversized semi-rigid holders for your cards, such as Card Saver I.
  • Do check the appropriate grading service level and only select one per submission form.
  • Do include your return shipping method in the designated box on the form.
  • Don't send cash; use checks or money orders only.
  • Don't submit handwritten copies of the form; only the official Beckett form is accepted.

Adhering to these guidelines will help facilitate the grading process and minimize any potential delays.

Misconceptions

  • Misconception 1: Beckett Grading only accepts gaming cards.
  • This is not true. Beckett Grading Services accepts and grades most licensed cards, including non-gaming cards.

  • Misconception 2: You can submit cards without a submission form.
  • All submissions must include a Beckett-issued submission form. Handwritten copies are not accepted.

  • Misconception 3: Cards will be graded even if payment is not received.
  • Cards will not be graded until payment is made in full. Make sure to include payment with your submission.

  • Misconception 4: The grading process is the same for all cards.
  • Different service levels apply based on the type of card and the grading requested. Be sure to select the appropriate level on the submission form.

  • Misconception 5: You can use any type of holder for your cards.
  • Beckett recommends using oversized semi-rigid holders. Other types may lead to damage, and Beckett will not be responsible for that.

  • Misconception 6: Graded cards can be returned without insurance.
  • While insurance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. If you choose not to insure your cards, you assume the risk of loss or damage during shipping.

  • Misconception 7: The turnaround time is guaranteed.
  • Turnaround times represent business days while cards are in Beckett's possession. Delays can occur due to various factors, including high submission volumes.

Key takeaways

  • Accurate completion of the form is crucial. Include your name, address, and contact information clearly. An account number will be assigned if you do not have one.

  • List all cards you are submitting, including details such as year, set name, card number, and declared value. This information is essential for processing your submission correctly.

  • Choose your grading service level carefully. Only check one box to indicate your desired service, as multiple selections can lead to confusion and delays.

  • Payment must accompany your submission. Be sure to calculate the total cost accurately, including grading fees, return postage, and any applicable taxes or insurance.
